Cao Bang is a mountainous province in Vietnam’s Northeast region, sharing more than 300 kilometers of border with China. Despite its rugged terrain, the province is blessed with stunning natural beauty — majestic mountains, cave systems, and serene lakes — all contributing to its breathtaking charm.
The Best Season to Visit Cao Bang
August to September is considered the best time to visit Cao Bang. During this period, the Ban Gioc Waterfall flows at its fullest, crystal-clear and powerful, while many terraced rice fields turn golden and ripen beautifully.
The rainy season lasts from June to September, when the rivers and waterfalls surge with white foamy water. The dry season, from October to May, brings cooler weather and calmer, turquoise streams.
If you want to see both the waterfall and the golden harvest, visit in October. For the wild sunflower and buckwheat flower seasons, plan your trip in November and December. In March, the region transforms again with the blooming of white pear flowers.
Early mornings and evenings in the mountains can be quite chilly, with temperatures dropping to 15–16°C. If you’re traveling by motorbike, remember to wear warm clothes and bring a raincoat.
